KIOXIA introduces first PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSDs utilising newest BiCS FLASH™ generation 10 flash memory
KIOXIA CM10 series SSDs deliver direct liquid cooling capability; new levels of performance and power efficiency for AI workloads
- Düsseldorf, Germany, 30 July 2026
- KIOXIA Europe GmbH
KIOXIA Europe GmbH today announced the KIOXIA CM10 Series of solid-state drives (SSDs), featuring the company's latest BiCS FLASH™ generation 10 TLC flash memory. Designed for demanding enterprise and AI workloads, including AI inference and context caching, the new drives support the NVIDIA CMX architecture while delivering significant gains in performance, power efficiency, and cooling flexibility over the previous generation[1].
The KIOXIA CM10 Series is KIOXIA's first PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD and offers direct-cold-plate liquid cooling capability, enabling more efficient cooling deployments for next-generation AI infrastructure. Compared to the previous generation[1], the KIOXIA CM10 Series delivers up to 92% higher sequential read performance and up to approx. 85% higher random read performance, helping to accelerate data-intensive AI inference and enterprise applications while improving overall system efficiency.
As AI models continue to scale toward trillions of parameters and context windows expand to millions of tokens, the demand for high-performance context cache storage is growing rapidly.
Architectures such as NVIDIA CMX extend the memory hierarchy beyond GPU memory by leveraging high-performance flash memory storage, making enterprise SSDs an increasingly important component of AI infrastructure. The KIOXIA CM10 Series is designed to meet these evolving requirements with the performance, capacity, and endurance needed for large-scale AI deployments.
"The role of storage is expanding. SSDs are now an important part in the inferencing pipeline", said Paul Rowan, Chief Marketing Officer & Vice President at KIOXIA Europe GmbH. He continues: "KIOXIA's CM10 Series is designed to support NVIDIA CMX, delivering the performance, efficiency and endurance required for these next-generation AI deployments."
Key features of the KIOXIA CM10 Series include:
- PCIe 6.0, NVMe 2.1, and Open Compute Project (OCP) Datacenter NVMe SSD Specification v2.7[2] compliant, including support for NVMe Flexible Data Placement (FDP)
- Available in E3.S, E1.S, and 2.5-inch[3] form factors, with cold-plate liquid cooling capability in E3.S and E1.S 9.5mm form factors. (all form factors support traditional air-cooled environments)
- Capacities ranging from 1.60 TB to 61.44 TB (varies by form factor), with read-intensive (1 DWPD) and mixed-use (3 DWPD) endurance options
- Utilises leading-edge KIOXIA BiCS FLASH™ generation 10 (332 layers) flash memory that improves SSD performance and power efficiency
- Security options include SIE, SED, SED FIPS 140-3 (planned), post-quantum cryptography recommended by CNSA 2.0, and SPDM 1.4 attestation support
The KIOXIA CM10 Series drives are currently sampling to selected customers[4], and will be showcased at FMS: the Future of Memory and Storage, taking place from 4 to 6 August in Santa Clara, California.
Notes
[1] Compared to KIOXIA CM9 Series SSDs
[2] Not all requirements of the OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD specification v2.7 are supported
[3] The 2.5-inch form factor is PCIe 5.0 compliant and uses BiCS FLASH™ generation 8 TLC flash memory.
[4] These samples are for the functional check purpose only and the specifications of the samples may differ in mass production.
2.5-inch indicates the form factor name and not its physical size.
Read and write speed may vary depending on various factors such as host devices, software (drivers, OS etc.), and read/write conditions.
Definition of capacity: KIOXIA defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes and 1TB = 240 bytes = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
DWPD: Drive Writes Per Day. One full drive write per day means the drive can be written and re-written to full capacity once a day every day under the specified workload for the specified lifetime. Actual results may vary due to system configuration, usage and other factors.
SED optional model supports TCG Opal SSC except for some features. SED optional model is not available in all countries due to the local regulations.
