La serie XG8 utilizza la più recente memoria flash KIOXIA a 112 livelli, TLC 3D (3 bit per cella). Con le funzionalità cache BiCS FLASH™ e SLC di quinta generazione, gli SSD XG8 raggiungono velocità di lettura/scrittura sequenziali rispettivamente di 7.000 MB/s e 5.800 MB/s e offrono fino a 900.000 IOPS in lettura casuale e 620.000 IOPS in scrittura casuale. Il consumo energetico della serie XG8 è pari o inferiore a 8,1 W in modalità attiva e inferiore a 3 mW in modalità stand-by.
La nuova serie XG8 è ottimizzata per PC mobili sensibili all'alimentazione, PC gaming orientati alle prestazioni e ambienti di data center per avvio server, caching e registrazione.
Disponibile in un fattore di forma compatto M.2 tipo 2280, la serie XG8 è disponibile in quattro modelli di capacità da 512 GB, 1.024 GB, 2.048 GB e 4.096 GB, ciascuno con l'opzione di un modello di unità SED (Auto-Encrypting Drive) che supporta TCG Opal Versione 2.01.
