Seria XG8 wykorzystuje najnowszą 112-warstwową pamięć flash 3D TLC (3 bity na komórkę). Dzięki pamięci 4. generacji BiCS FLASH™ i pamięci podręcznej SLC dyski SSD XG8 osiągają prędkość odczytu/zapisu sekwencyjnego odpowiednio do 7000 MB/s i 5800 MB/s oraz zapewniają do 900 000 losowych odczytów i 620 000 losowych zapisów IOPS. Zużycie energii przez serię XG8 wynosi w trybie aktywnym nie więcej niż 8,1 W i poniżej 3 mW w trybie czuwania.
Nowa seria XG8 została zoptymalizowana pod kątem komputerów mobilnych wymagających oszczędzania zasilania, gamingowych komputerów PC zorientowanych na wydajność, a także środowisk centrów danych do uruchamiania serwerów, buforowania i rejestrowania.
Seria XG8, dostępna w kompaktowej jednostronnej obudowie M.2 2280, oferuje modele o trzech pojemnościach 512 GB, 1024 GB i 4096 GB każdy z opcją SED (Self-Encrypting Drive) obsługującą TCG Opal w wersji 2.01.
